Social Literacy Book D2
One-legged, one-armed, oneeyed Jacko was a truly fearsome pirate and a very, very unco-operative person. Home, Sweet Home is a short play about family co-operation. Students write their own cooperation diary. These are just three of the activities in this book which help students develop the concept of 'cooperation'. As the second unit in Social Literacy Series D, students build upon the main concepts of the previous units, 'needing people' and 'dependence'. The concept of co-operation also contributes to the development of the overall theme of this series of units: community. The Social Literacy Project has developed this unit as part of an interdisciplinary social science course for primary and secondary schools. The goal of social literacy is for students to develop a framework of social concepts as tools for social understanding and active, confident social participation.
